Outdoor Terrace at Enabling Village

How familiar are you with the inclusive spaces at Enabling Village? Our iconic spots merge architecture, lifestyle, technology, and universal design to create a memorable experience for everyone who visits. These open spaces allow visitors of diverse abilities to meet and interact with one another. Here are three of our favourites!

Outdoor Terrace: A Tranquil Space with Universal Accessibility

Relax at the Outdoor Terrace, a safe space for all to unwind and connect with one another. You can’t miss one of its most unique features – gently sloped ramps that are designed for both manual wheelchairs and motorised scooters to move and turn with ease. Other spaces in the Enabling Village were also retrofitted in conformance with the Building and Construction Authority’s Universal Design guidelines.

Circular Sitting Tubes: Innovative Seating, Inclusive Design

Can you imagine that these Circular Sitting Tubes were once sewage pipes? Now, they have been thoughtfully transformed into cosy nooks that invite visitors to sit and gather, fostering a sense of community in our inclusive hub. They also make for an excellent spot to capture Instagram-worthy moments!

Mural by Ernest Zacharevic X Pathlight School: Artful Expression of Diversity

Featuring endearing animals from The Animal Project, the three-story mural is painted by Lithuanian-born artist Ernest Zacharevic, in collaboration with artists from Pathlight School, the first autism-focused school in Singapore catering to children. We are proud to infuse Enabling Village with artistry while showcasing the talents of our community. Even though this mural was completed in 2015, it still continues to bring joy to us today.

Tenants Making a Difference

In addition to crafting inclusive spaces, we extend our support to persons with disabilities through our diverse tenant community. Through partnerships and collaborations, our tenants form a network that offers training and resource-sharing opportunities. For instance, The Art Faculty serves as a platform for artists with disabilities, empowering them to refine and showcase their talents. Kindle Garden, a SPARK-accredited preschool, adopts a non-discriminatory curriculum that nurtures both typically developing children and those with additional needs, fostering a culture of diversity, mutual respect, and understanding from an early age. Meanwhile, Stroke Support Centre (S3) Headquarters and First Centre provides a welcoming environment for stroke survivors to engage in their daily activities, contributing positively to their rehabilitation and mental well-being.
