Envisioning tomorrow’s Enabling Village

Since its official opening by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in December 2015, Enabling Village has not only made significant impact on the lives of persons with disabilities across life-stages, but also effected key national-level changes in domains such as early childhood education, sports and wellness, and inclusive training and employment. To do more and better for persons with disabilities, a 4-storey building extension will be added to Enabling Village to focus on honing and harnessing the creative talents of persons with disabilities, building their independent living skills and improving their caregivers’ wellbeing.

Our Core Principles

  • Integrated First Stop: A first-stop gateway that provides persons with disabilities and caregivers with greater opportunities to integrate in learn, work and play settings.
  • Inclusive Infrastructure & Initiatives: A showcase of how universal design, assistive technology and social innovation initiatives can enable persons with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.
  • 4P Partnerships: A space where the People, Philanthropic, Private and Public sectors come together to build an inclusive community and catalyse innovative solutions that mitigate post-18 disability needs.

By combining accessible infrastructure, tenancy and programming, Enabling Village strives to be a beacon of inclusion in Singapore and beyond. We enable persons with disabilities to thrive, enhance caregivers’ capacity to care, partner enterprises to unlock their potential through inclusion, and engage communities to change mindsets and build an inclusive society.

What to expect at EVX

Look forward to brand new facilities at Enabling Village Extension, surrounded by lush nature and rich biodiversity. Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the beautiful garden terrace, sit down and have a chat at the amphitheatre, or savour a delicious meal at the food hall. There’s a place for everybody in this inclusive community space.

At Enabling Village, there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about and support persons with disabilities. The extension will feature i’mable Collective, an integrated experiential space with a retail showcase, café, gallery and studios to profile and nurture creatives with disabilities, promoting integration and inclusion. It will be Singapore’s first showcase that brings together pan-disability artists and makers’ works under one roof. Some of the i’mable Collective gift products have gained national recognition at the National Day Parade 2020 with the endorsement of the President of Singapore, and international presence while being featured at the prestigious Milan Design Week 2022.

Other tenants you can look forward to seeing include:

  • Services targeting the post-18 needs of persons with disabilities
  • Wellness and enrichment services for persons with disabilities and their caregivers
  • Smart classroom and open spaces for learning
  • Disability innovation lab to ideate and materialise innovations for the disability sector
