Event Description
This session is designed for parents and caregivers of children and youth with special needs, particularly those navigating key transition stages such as different school entry stages, changes in support needs throughout their life and transition into adulthood and working world. This session is intended to be a safe and supportive space for parents and caregivers. There are no right or wrong questions, and participants are encouraged to share only what they are comfortable with.
The session seeks to:
- Support parents and caregivers in understanding transition pathways and available supports
- Build confidence and clarity during periods of change
- Address both practical and emotional aspects of transitions
- Foster connection and reassurance among parents and caregivers
Using a Human Library approach, parents and caregivers will engage in small-group conversations with allied professionals in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment. The session aims to provide practical insights, emotional reassurance and opportunities for them to ask honest questions through open dialogue rather than formal presentations.
