A Placemaking Project

Supported by Queenstown Constituency Office

Accessible Sights is a pilot multi-sensorial programme that seeks to provide equal access and foster community cohesion for the visually impaired (VI) community through:

· Implementation of Beyond Vision International (BVI)‘s proprietary Tactile-Audio Interaction System (TAIS) – a system leveraging tactile print and touch-activated audio, to improve venue experiences for VIs

· Offers specialized training for individuals with Visual Impairments to become proficient docents, leading events with confidence

· Development of an open-source 3D print system that supports creation of VI-friendly programme materials at a lower cost for future programme organisers to easily tap on

The programme is partially funded by the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund and is a partnership between Trigger+, Trigger Design Studio‘s lab for non-commercial ventures and Beyond Vision International, a not-for-profit organization that aims to enhance the quality of life of the visually impaired by enabling them to actively participate in the arts and culture, stimulating their creativity and learning.

Accessible Sights’ first pilot multi-sensorial programme will take place at Enabling Village, our venue sponsor and event advisor. The pilot programme aims to allow the VI community to have a more in-depth and engaging experience visiting Enabling Village with their family and friends. It also serves to improve the independence of VI community navigating through Enabling Village.

The experiential TAIS activation focuses on allowing VI participants an opportunity to enjoy Enabling Village to its fullest through an audio-tactile guide book and tactile plaques setup around Enabling Village.
